Yoga Gifting Round Up - Our Faves with Links to Order!
We get lots of questions this time of year about the best yoga gifts to buy. Whether you practice in the studio or at home, you need a few things to make your practice efficient and comfortable. We don’t have the space to carry all of these awesome items in the studio, so we wanted to share links to what we suggest to our students and use ourselves.
When I first started practicing, I had a TJ Maxx mat and that was it. It worked fine for my teenage body, but as I’ve grown in my practice (and in age) I have come to appreciate the importance of a sturdy mat, helpful props, and high quality gear. Some of these may seem pricey, but if you are practicing often, they will be well worth it. And as the saying goes - Buy nice or buy twice! It’s best to start out with good gear.
With our further ado… here are our faves at every price point!
Mats
A good mat is so important. It needs to not slip on the floor, be sticky enough your hands don’t slip, and provide enough cushion that your bones don’t press into the floor.
Here are my faves…
Good
Manduka Begin Yoga Mat
Better
Liforme Mats - You’ll see these at Jax a lot! All the instructors love theirs and they are great for alignment. We sell them in the studio or you can grab yours here
Best
Manduka Pro - It’s simply the best and comes with a lifetime warranty
Blocks
Blocks bring the floor closer to you. A sturdy set will be your best friend in your yoga practice, no matter your level.
Good
All In Motion Foam Block from Target
Better
Manduka Foam
Best
Manduka Cork
Straps
Straps add length when you need it. You can use a towel, but straps made for yoga are great. I especially love one with a round buckle, as it’s easier to maneuver. (Notice my best pick here is NOT the most expensive one!)
Good
Manduka Align
Best
Jade Cotton Strap
Bolster
Bolsters provide support and comfort for slower paced practices and I sit on mine to meditate every day. The Manduka is a studio fav, but it’s more squishy so if you want firm, the Hugger Mugger is so sturdy and supportive. (It’s the one I use every day)
Good
Manduka
Best
My All Time Fav - the Hugger Mugger
Leggings
Leggings are not essential but most women in the studio do wear them. I love leggings that are high waisted, feel like second skin, and that I can also wear outside the studio.
Good - My fav budget option are Old Navy. They are on sale for $20 today!
Better
I LOVE Fabletics Oasis
Best
There is nothing better… Beyond Yoga spaced feels like actual butter.
Other Favorite Gadgets
Some other things I use often in my home practice that would be perfect to gift:
Accupressure Mat (Hurts so good! These mats stimulate pressure points to relieve pain!)
Yoga Wheel (Great for deepening backbends and tons of fun asana options)
Foam Roller (These are great for everyone - yogi or not! Foam rolling helps loosen fascia and keep the body loose and pain free)
Meditation Apps - There are tons of meditations on the Calm app and even Spotify. Jax will have our own app soon too! These would be great to gift so that the recipient can access a guided meditation or some breath work any time.
Of course if you’re local, don’t forget to grab a Jax gift card!
