Getting to Know Us: A Blog Series (Erin)
Jax Yoga’s resident dad joke teller Erin Studer is an incredibly passionate and yogi who brings a unique blend of authenticity, inclusivity, and humor to her classes.
With over three years of teaching experience, Erin's journey into yoga instruction was inspired by the profound impact it had on her mental health and body image, igniting a desire to share the transformative power of yoga with others. She says “Once I discovered how great yoga was for my mental health and body image, I just knew I had to share it with the world.”
Erin's teaching philosophy revolves around the belief that yoga is for every body, emphasizing movement as a means of breaking the stress cycle and regulating the nervous system. Erin says “It is my passion to teach that movement doesn’t have to be punitive or prescribed to make you less. Rather, it is an excellent way to break the stress cycle and regulate our nervous system.” She offers choice at all times, gives adaptations for every pose, and nudges her students toward intuitive movement. All with lots of laughter and humor.
Her classes, particularly Yoga .5 and Yoga Rest, are designed to be beginner-friendly, adaptable to various ages, bodies, and abilities, and promote intuitive movement rather than a prescribed approach. Creating a welcoming and inclusive environment is at the core of Erin's teaching approach. By being her authentic, transparent self, offering choices and adaptations, and encouraging laughter and humor in her classes, Erin ensures that students feel seen, comfortable, and empowered to explore their practice in a safe and supportive space.
Erin chooses to teach at Jax because, she says “Jax is pure magic. It is filled with amazingly inclusive, welcoming folks that truly care about each other. No one takes themselves too seriously and everyone is humble and kind. You just can’t beat it.”
When you leave Erin's classes, she hopes you feel lighter, liberated from burdens that no longer serve you, and empowered to face life's challenges with renewed strength and resilience.
Erin's favorite quote, "Rest is a right, not a reward," encapsulates her commitment to promoting radical self-care and self love in her practice and teaching.
When she’s not teaching, Erin enjoys taking VIN & YIN classes with Ms. Gabby Decker, showcasing her dedication to continuous learning, personal growth, and her commitment to the only rule of being a Jax instructor: never stop learning.
