Getting to Know Us: A Blog Series (Allie)

“I want my students to feel like they can trust themselves and their bodies. I want them to know that yoga is for them, even if my class isn't their style.”

Meet Allie.

She is one of our newest teachers, having just completed her 200 hour training. But anyone in her class would guess she’d been at it for much longer! She brings a wisdom beyond her years.

Allie’s welcoming energy, smoothly designed classes, and thoughtful guidance are already so well developed! With a passion for the practice of yoga and a desire to create a welcoming and inclusive space, she says she aims to create classes that are “relaxed and fun for students while honoring yoga’s roots and creating space for reflection.”

“I just started teaching yoga a few months ago! Teaching yoga has already brought me so much joy. I wanted to start teaching simply because I wanted to share a practice that has done so much for me.” Allie took her first yoga class at Jax and chooses to teach here because, she says, “The Jax community is the best. Being in an affirming, body positive environment surrounded by supportive people is amazing.”

Allie is well equipped to teach a variety of all-levels classes, and she especially loves introducing yoga to new students! You can find her regularly teaching yoga 1 at our Springfield location on Friday mornings.

By offering plenty of choices and props to support individual needs, the goal is to empower students to trust themselves and their bodies, finding movement that feels right for them. “I want to get to know you and create space for you to know yourself. I offer lots of choices and props to help people find movement that works for their bodies.”

Her favorite quote from Gwendolyn Brooks gives insight into what makes her such a welcoming and including leader. “We are each other's harvest, we are each other's business, we are each other's magnitude and bond.” Allie says “we are all bound together in community. I believe that we all have a responsibility to lift each other up, and I try to live my life in a way that reflects that.”

When she’s not teaching yoga or working, you can find Allie hanging with her adorable family and her chickens. You’ll also practice alongside her as a student- her favorite classes to attend are fast-paced vinyasa classes and ashtanga, but she says she also loves rest classes. “Learning to love rest and stillness is a constant practice for me, but one that has changed me for the better!”
